About the Artwork

From the tour's publicity designer, Sarah Carney:

This digital painting illustration is focused on the saturation of familiar symbols and instantly recognizable Iowa motifs, paying most attention to those parts relevant to the story in RESISTANCE. Iowans rarely see ourselves and our stories depicted fondly and truthfully, and this illustration took the opportunity to attempt just that as a complement to the themes of the play and the challenges of the characters. Interrupting all of that, of course, is the tension of an out-of-balance relationship with each other and the farm. The connection between the illustration and the viewer is disrupted by the corn and velvetleaf plants, which demand immediate attention.

Resistance
A new play by Iowa playwright Taylor Sklenar
Touring Iowa this Spring

When a new herbicide is introduced into a small Iowa community, a group of neighboring farmers must grapple with their differing perceptions of risk – and even with each other – as they figure out how to move forward together.

Coffee and community conversation will follow each performance.

Run time: ~2.5 hours (including intermission and community conversation).

Cost: Pay What You Can.
